Well known for landscape painting, Gu Xijin (1865-1930), originated from Yuanhe (modern-day Suzhou in Jiangsu province). Also known as Lin Shi and He Yi, he gave himself the name "Xijin Fisherman".
Originally named Jun, Wu Changshuo (1844-1927) was also known as Junqing or by the self-given name, Changshuo. His various pseudonyms included Cangshi and Lao Cang, to name a few. He hailed from Zhejiang Province and was a prominent painter, calligrapher, and seal carver during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. He is considered a representative of the "Shanghai School" and the "New Zhejiang School".
Lu Hui (1851-1920) was a prominent painter during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic period of China. Originally named Youhui, he was also known by the self-given name, Lianfu. He was from Wujiang in Jiangsu province and later lived in Wuxian (today's Suzhou).
Chu Deyi (1871-1942) was a modern seal carver and archaeologist. He hailed from Yuhang in Zhejiang province. His works are known for their grace and vigor. His writings include "Gold Stone Studies", "Bamboo Man's Record", among others.
Fei Nianci (1855-1905) was a Qing Dynasty calligrapher and book collector. He was from Wujin in Jiangsu province. Nianci held several official posts but later returned to his hometown to focus on poetry, calligraphy, and book collecting.
