The second session of the Autumn Chinese Art and Antiques sale continues the excitement begun on day one with more magnificent jades, ceramics, and rare works of art. Collectors of 18th century white jade will rejoice at the tremendous selection available, which includes several well-carved plaques such as lots 204 and 223. Following these impressive jades are a large selection of ceramics, many of which date to renowned historical periods and help represent the developing aesthetics throughout the different dynasties. Some highlights include a pair of ruby red-glazed medallion bowls from the Daoguang period, a wucai-glazed bowl from the Kangxi period which emphasizes the unique craftsmanship of the era, and a pair of well-maintained celadon cong vases from the short Tongzhi period. A well-curated selection of bronzes follow, including several large gilt-bronze figures. This session ends with an interesting assemblage of ancient sculptures with well-documented provenance: lot 341 from the Northern Qi dynasty and lot 342 from the Northern Wei dynasty.
